What would you buy online?

Yesterday, I googled “buy online” to end up with 2.37 billion search result. Just in case you did not notice, it is BILLION, with B! There were websites out there to show me what to buy, from where to buy, how to buy and how much to pay.

It is amazing how easy it became to find and buy things over the net. Can you name a product that can not be found and purchased online? Few days ago, a little girl offered her grandmother for sale on ebay. In case you need one!

What I am wondering about is, however, what sort of products would people like you be welling to buy online? And what sort of products you would need to touch and feel before you buy? You may buy a book online, but would you, for example, buy a pet, a car or a grandmother?!

During the early stages of twindi project, one big question mark was: What to sell? We, at twindi, were trying to decide about what sort of things people would feel comfortable buying online.

As per the market analysis conducted by our business consultant, Ernst & Young, consumer electronics and IT products showed a high potential for people to buy online. Accordingly it has been decided to start with that.

Certainly, as we go, new types of products will be added to twindi catalogue like books, fashion, home appliances and others. Get ready to see more in the near future!

Now, how about you? What sort of things would you feel comfortable buying online? What are the things that you would not even think of buying online?

Waiting to hear from you!

I think with the high traffic here in Bahrain that it might takes me an hour to reach to the shop or store to buy maybe a mobile or washing machine and also the queue that I need to stand in for long time to pay .... these would for sure encourage me to buy online ... provided that the security is maintained in terms credit card secuirty as well as security on other information I provide to this site or that

  2. Hi Saleh

    Thank you for your feedback.

The terrible road traffic is for sure one important factor that would encourage shopping online, especially here in Bahrain. Today, it took me around 45 minutes to reach a place that is not more than 15 km away.

In addition to this, the product information we usually can get from the offline stores is limited. This is either because the salesman is busy attnding other customers, ore because he/she is not knowledgeable enough about the product we are interested in.

On the other hand, online stores (the good ones) provide all the information you would think of, and more. In addition to the abbility to compare products side by side in order to aid you selecting the right product for you. And you can also have a look at reviews, in the form of text and movies, made by users of the the product you are thinking of buying. These are advantages that one can not get shopping offline.

As for the security issue you mentioned, this might be significan some years ago. However, with the current technological advancement, processing a credit card transaction online is not any less secure than processing it offline. At twindi.com, we are taking the highest levels of security measures to assure you the safest possiple online payment processing.

Looking forward to hear from you soon...
